Well. I just listened in on an OIEAHC Coffeehouse about the Slave Societies Digital Archive [check it out here] and good golly, am I excited about the possibilities for my data. It’s true, I had never heard of Transkribus (because although I don’t really live in a cave or under a rock, I often behave as if I do) — but now my mind is spinning with the possibility of using AI to transcribe the land records and then using AI *again* to extract the metes and bounds and then using GIS to map the tracts and whoa, so much potential. But first, I’m going to rein it in for a bit and focus on adding a page about the land record data I already have at my disposal. [Deep breath.]
